Nozzle question ?

How far in should the contact tip be from the end of the shielding nozzle?

You'll get different answers. Some say flush, others say a bit recessed, others a bit proud of the end.

Usually is near even or slightly recessed.

If its in inside corner weld i like the tip flush or out a little. If its an outside corner or any other weld i like it inside a little...Bob

Mine is recessed about 5mm

I guess its down to individual preference, I like my tip to be flush.

How do you adjust it? Spacer under tip adapter ?

Hi, I own three welding guns, a tiny 180 amp, a 350 amp and a large 400amp, on the two larger ones, they sit on an insulators with ring springs to keep the nozzle in position and you can push them on to your heart content either proud or recessed, the 180 amp one has a screwed thread which you can extend the nozzle by not screwing it up all the way but there is only a small amount of leeway when wound in about 2mm. To make the tip stick out more I would have to get a longer nozzle to fit it.

Having said that I have always recessed my nozzles by about 4-5mm.
