Hi, I own three welding guns, a tiny 180 amp, a 350 amp and a large 400amp, on the two larger ones, they sit on an insulators with ring springs to keep the nozzle in position and you can push them on to your heart content either proud or recessed, the 180 amp one has a screwed thread which you can extend the nozzle by not screwing it up all the way but there is only a small amount of leeway when wound in about 2mm. To make the tip stick out more I would have to get a longer nozzle to fit it.
Having said that I have always recessed my nozzles by about 4-5mm.
