Is that 8.5V a typo, as that seems to be way too low? I would be welding that at about 22-24V or even more, and adjust wire speed to suit. Looking at the pic of the front of the welder it appears that you have set the voltage at about the number 1 setting, try setting it to 5 or more and see how you go from there. It is a bit hard to tell from the photo's.I am using a cebora 260e welder setting are in photo, voltage is at 8.5 @120-260amp 5 wire speed. My machine doesn’t have any sort of indercator of the amperage. Hope this helps. I did a weld test looks like hardly any penetration on the 6mm plates, maybe it’s something I’m doing wrong?
I only did one side as part of the test
I remembered that I did a weld test on some 6mm steel for some reason or other about 14 years ago, so hunted through my drive and found it, I have included the only pic I had of the the "BFH" test and couldn't break the weld, unfortunately I do not remember the weld parameters of what I had set the machine to when I did it, but it would have been at least the voltage I wrote earlier. Looking at this pic it appears that I may have put a small bevel on it as well
