Not another trailer project

I acquired this trailer half finished when my mum’s partner moved out, he fitted the wheels and axle and left it as a rolling frame.
I fitted a ladder holding frame thingy, a drop down rear door. Rope hooks, boarded it out and painted it black.


Already done a bit of welding in this picture

Finished trailer although I don’t recommend board your trailer with plywood as the paint didn’t take long to start peeling


I put 1mm sheet steel on top of the base plywood it seemed like a good idea

It’s a good little trailer apart from the peeling plywood and it’s not been stolen yet even though it lives on the drive, I think that may be due to the fat ass chain, chunky padlock and homemade ground anchor

I used base plywood but used Sadolin to protect it, doesn't flake despite trailer being out in all weathers and usually holding a pond until I remember to clean out the drain holes

trailer looks great...yeah, live and learn with the plywood!.....

I wish we had that type of trailer tongue jack in the states.....I like the design of it...

are some of those welds kinda cold on the hinges and hooks?...maybe its just the pics.

They don't go mad to steal home made ones
Easy to identify and hard to sell for decent money

Just the wrong paint. Black delux weathershield would have sorted it. Provided there was no oily type preservatives on it first

sheet steel on the top will make everything slide round I put a piece of sacrificial ply in the bottom of mine and a piece of rubber mat out of a van over it nothing slides anywhere

They have not fallen apart yet they are some of the first welds I ever did, I’m a much better welder now

I have never had a problem with stuff sliding, I could have used sacrificial ply but I though it would be easier to use a shovel in it with a sheet steel base

Yeah, I hear ya...they will probably be fine....some of my first welds on a tow behind driveway rake I made have held up well and they were far from perfect!
