A real trail blazer before timeThe last time I used cash in the UK was 2001, even much of North Africa take card payments, the few times I've had to use cash overseas it felt very antiquated. When I was self-employed, I didn't accept cash or cheques (notified beforehand), the reason being, it not only cost me more than card payments did to lodge the money but also cost me time, as I rarely worked locally, I could basically write off a half day every 7-10 days to pay in cash or cheques if I accepted them, between those days, the payment was essentially worthless as I couldn't do anything with it.
It's very liberating not having to mess around with notes or coins, I love visits to Scandi countries where they have card micropayments sorted, there's also none of the 'how much cash should we take' issues for holidays etc.
How long did you have to wait for the carrier pigeon to inform you they couldn't pay by cheque ?
