Happy to be put right if there's a difference but for me it's a bench mounting blacksmithing vice (as used by farriers?).
Anyhow, whatever it is ,it's going to get tarted up (not the full @spencer 427 ), cleaned and refurbished. First obvious problem is a worn thread. Not much to be done about that and in practice, really shouldn't be an issue.
It is slightly banana'd.
...and that is something I probably will address. It might come out cold with a few judicious strikes with a big sledgehammer but I will more than likely get it good and hot just in case.
The big post leg vice I have in there is amazingly useful but sits quite high and there is little choice where it can go. Only a couple of spots in my tiny forge area can accommodate it plus it is quite high.
