Norton Flypress

Hi all,
I recently got these 3 Norton flypresses with a lot of other tools from an old 89 yr old guys workshop.
Im about to re-build my tiny two-car garage into a small workshop, and has just been able to get the presses up on my workbench (yes, they are heavy)
Tested one of them yesterday, and i must say its a very handy tool to have
Is there a place where i can get "add-on-parts" for these flypresses?

One is set up to punch holes (got plenty of different sizes), one is set up to punch squares, and one to make 90 degree bends (see pic nr2).
But i guess there are other handy ways to use them too?

You see tooling at auto-jumbles occasionally have made up some as well, there is also a big weight that fits on the sticky up bit of the handle to give it some inertia if required, handy tool, 3 seem slightly excessive though handy for production work
Never found a set of louvre dies though, tried making them never got them to where I was happy though.

Looks like two of your presses are the "deep throat" style which are useful if you are doing work on panels etc. I have a flypress here too. Press tooling can be expensive to buy from people who know what they're selling. I have made some simple tooling for bending metal etc. for mine.

Did you get any Hunton bolsters to hold your hole punches? When I bought an old mechanical press for not much more than scrap value the chap who was selling threw in a load of Hunton bolsters and hole punches in various sizes. I found out later that the Hunton bolsters fetch good money and are worth a lot more than I paid for the press!

Yes i did, but havent gone through all yet. There was lots of machines and tools... a mill, lathe, flypresses, a very nice and heavy sheet metal cutter, drill press, lots of Dormer drill bits and tapping tools..etc etc, and still a few more boxes that i have not gone through yet.

You've got a couple of Q-Max chassis punches amongst your other punches. They are the blacked ones in two parts held together and squashed together with a hex socket head screw

Thanks for notifying me I wasnt aware of that. Are they the kind you use to make a racecar look like a Swiss cheese?

Quite true about the prices asked for Hunton bolsters, you can buy a flypress for the price it would weigh in at, but then find someone who wants £100 plus for a used bolster.

Just ordered a louvre tool! Cant wait to test it... This is going to be fun
