Hopwood Hall college in Middleton. It's a C&G level 1 MIG welding course. 18 weeks at 3 hours per week. They also run TIG and MMA (not seen any fighting to be honest) at the same time. They have nine bays, all with TIG and MIG plants in each.
Thanks for the pointers! Tomorrow is the third session so I'll work on the fillet weld. We're all just finding our feet to be honest, some literally have never tried welding before in their lives. I have previously used gas and stick welders when I did my apprenticeship 30 odd years ago, so the concepts are not alien to me but the specific techniques and machine settings of MIG are.As Parm says not bad, re the runs on the plate, I bet the first one was on the left then while the plate was heat soaked you did the second run, with small coupons its best to quench between runs, on the tee fillet the pointed "spine" down the middle is an indicator that you are moving a bit to fast, good start though.
See what you did there?Hello and stick around
It was a trap to find the 1st p1 ss take...and 1st prize goes to my friend from TowcesterSee what you did there?
Let him practice mig on flat before he starts stick on a round
