Its come that time again when I need to refill my Argon/CO2 bottle and I'm also going to be getting a pure Argon bottle for the newly acquired TIG.
As other people in Norfolk may also have found, there are a lack of suppliers that do rent free bottles in this area. I've had to use Adams gas in Thetford which is about an hours drive for me each way. Compared with some other places, I thought that the prices weren't that bad, until today.
When I couldn't get hold of the bloke in Thetford, I had a quick google and found a place called Norfolk Gas Filling (I have no ties with them) in Yarmouth. Has anyone got gas from them? Any feedback? Apparently they are a manufacturer of commercial gas bottle filling equipment and have started doing their own filling as a side. They certainly didn't have a website when last I looked.
You can buy a bottle from them, the prices of which seemed comparable to my adams gas deposit or my BOC annual rental for my oxygen bottle. The price for the gas seems low with 30L of pure argon costing £49 + VAT and they can fill existing bottles you may own if they are within their test date.
As soon as I can, I'll be switching to use them as it halves my time spent changing a bottle, but my question is, have I been overpaying all this time or is this potentially quite a good find?
