Hi all
Must say an excellent forum , printed out most of the Tutorial but putting it into practice is proving harder that it should be.
I have a Cosmo 150 bought as Gasless but with all the bits necessary for a gas conversion. Currently using the white Argon/Co2 bottle for practice and a reel of 0.6 wire from Machine Mart.
It has six settings and initially I tried to run a set of 6 beads on some 3mm plate I set it to the highest setting struck a arc briefly though this is what it's about till the arc stopped and I though hmm can't here fan running either lifting up the visor the garage lights weren't on , blown the garage and house [ garage circuit 16amp breakers ! ]
Really I want to weld 1.5mm ms tubing [ to build bikes ] so I cleaned some paint off a sheet of 1.25 in the weld area and the somewhere for the clamp and tried again.
As you can see from the pictures it ain't welding and it ain't pretty ! that is on setting 3 [ 1.4-1.7mm] .
it just seems to form little towers of weld and then the arc goes out , leaving me with a blob of metal on the end of the wire or the wire welded to the nozzle.
A long time in the past I master gas and welded up a 2cv [ so know what thin metal welding is like ! ] and was hoping for the same pool control with this but the pool seems no existent ? and very hard to see/control.
Strangely non of the settings I have tried have blown a hole in it ?
It seems to stutter rather than sizzle and I have shown in red the only small run I managed but there is no penetration at all from any of the attempts just the paint burnt off the reverse side ?
regards Paul
