Non LED 12v lighting transformer

Iv'e got 5 x 12v non LED down lighters under the units in the kitchen. just wee 2 wire pin bulbs in the holders.
The transformer has failed, at a guess the kitchen was done about 16 years ago.
Connected to a fused spur, not on a dimmer switch. I want to keep it the same and not go LED or dimmer.

if its just 12v halogen or filament bulbs would they not work on DC as well? if so, the dc power source would likely be much cheaper

thats the going rate for a 106 transformer. i have loads of 60 va transformers second hand and just use 2 of them instead split the load up here https://www.amazon.co.uk/Knightsbri...00&hvtargid=pla-437033094883&psc=1&th=1&psc=1 not much saving

The 60va seem really popular, lots of hits for them, and fair bit cheaper
105va not so popular and maybe why they cost more

They will be halogen bulbs from memory. Run hot and don't give out a lot of light. Not sure why the preference is for non LED* but the halogens will not care about polarity, AC/DC etc nor absolute Voltage. As long as the 12V PSU will provide the current required with a margin, it will be fine.

*Those Bi-pin bulbs are available as a direct replacement in warm white LED.

Depending on the fitting a lot of the led lamps wont physically fit, its just Gragson being tight again!

What wattage are the lamps? you might get away with a 60VA, if you dont want to spend I will have a look in the rumage box in the morning and see if I have one and I can send it down

The bulbs are 20w so times 5.... Another reason for my tight gittedness and not wanting to change is that I have a bag of about 50 of them

yes and meant to work on 12 volt dc v constant voltage . the ac transformers run up to 17 volt and not all of them will run the led bulbs. and if they do they wont last as long getting the over voltage i get hundreds of these things for refits. the whole lots best changed to led @24o volts cheaper and more reliable
