sat drinking tea and heard a helicopter go over my house . a fair few normaly do being near the airport this was hanging around and sounded very loud and low went out the back and the air ambulance was in the field at back of my house .didn't see anything happening it was just sat there for 15 mins then took off last year it was british rail in there helicopter flew in and nearly took the chimney pots offif I win the lottery im having one there brill

Last time that happened round our way, they were filming some drama or other. Saw the pilot walking off to the pub for something cold and non-alcoholic.

Hi, I often get them hovering over my place waiting to cross the runway at Gatwick. They are mainly the emergency services based at nearby Redhill Aerodrome, sometimes it's Chinook s usually singular but not always. A few years ago there was even an Apache but he didn't hover stationary but kept to a tight circle until he got clearance.

A few years ago ...I'm sat out the back and I hear the sound of a helicopter ...it gets loader and louder and puts down in the field just below our house ...turns out there is a funeral at the next village and this family hired a helicopter to fly them from Athens ...the whole village turned out to get a look , we were talking later that evening and I thought ...how lucky I am to live in a place were when a surprise helicopter turns up we all go and look at it ...in some parts of the planet you grab your wife and kids and run ....

We had 2 RAF tornados the other night at about 10 pm at low level over our house - that was an eye opener

They were on night flying exercise on the Mach loop apparently.

We used to get the RAF and the USAF doing low level flying exercises in and about the forest I used to work in. Often I was higher than the planes!

I live under a low-level chopper air route, but since the crash of '08 there's been hardly any chopper traffic. Used to get paper millionaires swanning around in their leased toys every day, and that Lloyd-Webber owned an estate to the west of me, so he and/or his visitors would crack on overhead. All gone now, and it's much more peaceful.
One chopper that caught my eye was Lizzie's on her way to Cashel, when she was doing a sort of tour of the slightly more interesting rocky bits of Ireland.

Took these from our kitchen window just over a year ago. Someone in the estate behind us had an emergency. Cat was a bit shaken up.

The air ambulance landed on the common in front of my aunt and uncles house a few months back, the pilot legged it out and used their bathroom as he needed a wazz, their neighbours got worried and thought they had an accident, luckily (not for the person involved I guess) it was there for something else!

A few years ago they used a helicopter to lift equipment onto the roof of a tower block. When it was waiting in the carpark the public were allowed to crawl all over it.

I think I’ve posted these before but these were some pics from when my missus was doing some training for the north wales air ambulance/coastguard guys, she got to have a right nosey round the hangar and the helicopter etc. This ones an S92, used quite a lot for offshore transport, I’ve seen the inside of quite a few but in a slightly different role!

We occasionally get to go up in a squirrel when we are doing fire fighting exercises at work. Strange thing is the pilots tend to be Eastern European

I live a couple hundred yards from the hospital and at this time of the year we will soon be hearing the choppers fetching them off the Cumbrian fells with hypothermia, broken legs etc, those that decided mountaineering attire and equipment is for wimps.

Yeah; you hardly ever hear of locals being caught out like that. They're not stupid enough to be 'testing themselves' against the elements, but are sitting with their feet up at the fire, either at home or in the pub. They've 'tested themselves' every fricking day for the past umpty years on the local hills and are sick of it. That, and sheep.
