Thats probably the rub and why its in the state it is. Over here places of heritage are quite often graded, in some cases the restrictions, do's, dont's and covenants would make any potential buyers wonder who actually owns the place.

If single, I'd be really interested. My big worry would be understanding and navigating the local bureaucratic customs, and tapping into the local trades and suppliers. Knowing what to call the bits I need in the correct terms would be essential.You laugh, if I was thirty years younger I would have probably bought that place, not sure why

I understand. I've lived in the EU, and have an EU passport. Slovenia is on my list of places to visit. My father used to work for a tractor manufacturer based in the old Czechoslovakia, so it's always been of interest to me. They were decent engineers, innovative and pragmatic.
