Quick question, has anyone got a no12 wood screw handy which they could tell me the diameter of the head of please? Biggest I've got here is no10.
Thanks in advance.
11-11.5mm, however.....
If its modern type screws like turbo golds, reisers, spax etc, you need to allow a bit more on sck holes, the edges of the head arn't sharp like traditional screws
Doh! Should have googled before asking, that's most unlike me!
Got to countersink those stainless brackets tomorrow night (no12 stainless csk screws) but can't nip out and get a screw (oo err!) until Tuesday.
Thanks for that guys .
A little workshop tip my old dad taught me, to find the gauge of a traditional woodscrew, measure the diameter of the head in 16ths, multiply by 2, then minus 2, thats the gauge
so a screw measuring 1/2" is 8/16ths x 2 = 16/16ths, minus 2 = no 14 screw
