New to this forum, or any forum in fact. I have an ageing BOC Autolynx Mig which I have had for years without any trouble. However, was welding today, tacked one end of a frame then went to put in another tack and nothing. Got power to welder and wire feed. Earth cable OK. Has anyone any ideas?

to the forum, does the relay/contactor pull in when you pull the trigger? you can normally hear a click/thump as it goes in.

OK, disconnect power and remove covers, check connections on rectifier, usually thick cable lugs bolted on. Check bolts are clean & tight. Check continuity (need a meter) from rectifier to tip of torch and from rectifier to end of work return (earth) clamp, should be zero (or near zero) ohms.
