I've got a garage in a block with no power.
There are a couple of small weldingjobs I need to do on a Morris minor, flat panel, rust spot, cut out, joddle, lap weld, paint.
I have my old Clarke MIG and no electricity. So what should I do ?
Can I run the MIG of a generator ? how big do I need. I know the output power, but I'm not sure of the input current.
I don't feel that gas is the way to go because I've known it to cause heat damage (lifted paint, softened plastic etc.) way beyond the welding area, especially above.
Does anyone remember or have experiance of the gadget you used to see in the small ads that let you weld off a car battery ? I think it included a manul switch for when the rod stuck and possibly an induction coil of some sort.
No problem with actually doing the job (City and Guilds MOV398\2).
