Yes, that is correct. Everything - road tax, insurance, MOT - ties back to the numberplate plus stickers, and only the "PowerDriveThing" ( Kfz - Kraftfahrzeug, i.e. car ) authorities can make & issue them. Payment for road tax and insurance has to be set up on direct debit. Is it the Germans that have everything attached to a numberplate? As in if you are in possession of a plate everything is covered.

I thought they should put it on fuel. Every vehicle needs fuel, so no untaxed vehicles. Use the vehicles more pay more - use the vehicles less pay less
Red Diesel?Would garages have a tax free pump for folks like me?, my tractor never goes on the road and my stationary engines just sit on the grass merrily chugging away![]()
Red Diesel?
whilst your comment is arrogant and wrong at the same time i bet you passed your test without those techs being available just like i didIt's not hard people... if you are too old to use a smartphone or computer we had amazing things called diaries, some of which you could put on a wall so you could see it every time you went in a room, in case you couldn't open the little book.
For the more technically minded we have computers, smartphones and tablets that all have diary and daily reminders.
If you are unable to master these technologies I suggest you are possibly unsuitable to be let loose in a motorised vehicle

Glad your glasses are rose tinted but it isn't really that simple. I've at least three vehicles that are not recognised on the dvla super website by the 16 didgit number provided by the v11 form and since the PO deliberately gave all their sub postmaster criminal records enabling them to sell their shops moving the counters into the local am pm shop who's computer also can't cope it now requires that trip into town searching for the very parking spaces you claim to have given up but i never seem to find. Form a disorganised que in the main PO and finally get them taxed that's two hours a time of my life I'll never get back or be paid for. It's not hard people... if you are too old to use a smartphone or computer we had amazing things called diaries, some of which you could put on a wall so you could see it every time you went in a room, in case you couldn't open the little book.

i prefer an open payment system instead of digital by default
I kinda enjoy going down to the post office and paying for the road tax there
a, im keeping someone in a job
b, its someone to talk too
c, i get to shop around and see if theres other things of interest for my partner or my children
to be honest theres no need to supply dvla with more info than just an address if users want to give there email address thats fine for them
as goes for telephone number for texts i cant see the need for them to have it unless they intend to inform you of fines by contacting you over the phone otherwise its a collection of data to be shared with anyone that includes the police who then think they have a right to contact you when they see fit or when they think they have an excuse to contact you.
dont forget all this data can be shared with debt companies and dvla is one collection point they do use
Their is some good phone apps out their that automatically remind you of mot and tax and you can put multiple vehicles in it.Many of us have more than one vehicle to tax, many other forms to fill and boxes to tick. Its just more to remember and muddle the grey matter.
I congratulate you on being so organised.
apps arnt as good as you might think you might be surprised how much data is being shared between them and other things out there and if your a user of facebook then your already profilled to hell and back whilst not being paid for itTheir is some good phone apps out their that automatically remind you of mot and tax and you can put multiple vehicles in it.
as goes for tech im well minded of it and use it for what i want to use it forYou have to move along with the smart technology or else get someone else to do it for you. In Northern Ireland all mot offices is closed. If you need forms you get them online. If you've no computer you ask family members, if you've no family then you go to the library. Mot tests can't be paid with cash anymore. You either phone a call centre or do it online. When you book a mot they get your contact details be it email or phone number.
The app doesn't need any personal information. It uses a registration number. It gives you the same information for a reg that the gov website does. Your next door neighbour could put your registration in and check the age of your vehicle, what size engine, if its taxed, when last tax book was issued, what it failed its last mot on, its milage history etc. He could even get a reminder for your tax. That information is held on your vehicle whether you like it or not.apps arnt as good as you might think you might be surprised how much data is being shared between them and other things out there and if your a user of facebook then your already profilled to hell and back whilst not being paid for it

as goes for the phone thats all it is to me a contact number for friends and family im not interested in the other crap adding junk thats shares loads of details and contacts and many other things from your mobile phone
put it this way my data is well protected i bet yours isnt, i dont get harrasement phonecalls or scam phonecalls like many get
How do you sell anything from home or advertise it if you don't provide contact details.apps arnt as good as you might think you might be surprised how much data is being shared between them and other things out there and if your a user of facebook then your already profilled to hell and back whilst not being paid for it
