No more BMW police cars

In October I was patiently waiting at a roundabout when the car behind me slowly rolled into my rear bumper.

The Warwickshire Police firearms training officer en route to a training session in his Škoda leaped out in a most apologetic frame of mind.

At least there would be no quibble about accepting blame!

The damage was so small I decided having it 'fixed' would be more trouble than living with a dent smaller than my little finger nail that I had to get down on my hands and knees to see.

I didn't have the cojones to ask to see what he was carrying locked away inside his car, but I did rag him mercilessly about his driving. He was obliged to report the RTC but had it been a private individual I would have just waved it off. The car has worse damage from supermarket car park numpties.

Yes, I did report it to my insurer and we had a good laugh about it too.

On Derbyshire Live news email last week there was a report of a lorry chase in which the BMW had been rammed and caused £70,000 worth of damage It was written off but How much was it to start with ?

Damage to the BMW in full police livery, it was well and truly mangled.

Ie "full cost of claim", rather than just actual damage.

70k??? They could buy a proper car for that much money.

Yeah the rear wheel arches dig into your sides. Seats are too far back so they can claim decent leg room
