Very good reason I would say - not making money! Which, after all, is the entire reason they are in business to do.Yup, big stoopid american company who owns the brand just decided for some reason to shut it all down. It's a household name and they made loads of good stuff I was very sorry to see it go.
Workwear
So dickies UK has been shut down (bureaucracy at its finest) and Snickers are too damn expensive...I've never paid £60 for a pair or trousers in my life, never mind work stuff. What else is out there?www.mig-welding.co.uk
This is business BS speak for "we wanted more profit on the books to look good, and decided to close the division down that made the least profit, even though it was perfectly viable""It follows a thorough review of the Dickies Workwear business in EMEA, which concluded the current business model is not in line with financial performance expectations."
Them and carhartt. Not sure if the Dickie’s label will live on in the fashion world. Probably been sold I’d think.haven't they gone into designer ponse gear now....
But that is what a business is run for - not for charity, not to break even, not to make 3 quid profit when closing it and reinvesting it elsewhere in the company will make 6 quid, or even 3.5 quid. The whims of the boss/bosses/shareholders. - That's the way of the world. This is business BS speak for "we wanted more profit on the books to look good, and decided to close the division down that made the least profit, even though it was perfectly viable"
Come on, we're all men of the world... I've worked for a company for 14 years. The first 9 years of that were spent working under the assertion that the company was operating at a loss. They sold our division to another company. Within a year, it showed more profit on the books than it had in a decade, and we're now re-investing more than the total profits made each year - millions...
Dickies stuff was never overpriced for the quality point. They could easily have increased the RRPs and made a little extra if they had needed to. VFC don't have any competing brands.
We used to get them at work but the current supplier now gives us what looks the same but a different brand?
