Permanganate with glycerin was one idea I was looking at for an ignition device. Thanks Wany and Guzrik for your advice.

The annoying thing about this is just how completely lawful it is to do what I want to do, and yet I can't do it. The guy at Blended Products is not supplying nitrous, not because it's illegal but because he just doesn't want the legal hassle and the trouble for his business if the government decide to go for him. And that's because the law is so woolly.

Decreasing volumes makes everything easier and creates safety.
I have a lot of experience in microfluidics, and always ask people to think how much volume or flowrate is really nescesary to prove your principle?
I am used to ID's below 0.5mm. If you need help with cappilary fittings or so let me know.

I used to use hydrogen peroxide to liberate oxygen from permanganate.
Glycerine with permanganate is a very interesting reaction. I thought I had invented the ultimate fire lighters until I melted the cast iron fire bars

Used to have a customer who brought their wagons to us for maintenance, many moons ago in my mechanicing days, they pumped the oxidising agent into the explosives for quarries and the likes. Not sure what it was but the wagons were always caked in it, some jelly like substance.

High concentration H2O2 is fun stuff, assembling kit for it takes at least 2 people. one to do the assemble/cleaning and one to watch your every move. touch your face, change gloves, put tool down on "unclean surface" clean tool,change gloves. touch outside of assembly... change gloves. but not much different to handling any of this stuff when you are running at 80 bar most things become a little excitable

As a kid I had a little oxy torch - one canister of butane and one of nitrous oxide.

I wonder if they still sell them?

I remember those, my brother had one but not seeing it working.
