MMM, my friend Sammy has made up his mind on modifying his Nissan Vanette.
He decided that the van should have 4 wheel drive, decent engine power, and still retain the vanette comfort without lifting the vehicle too much.
So, since he's a cross breed between a nutter and an engineering geek, he bought a 4 Runner rolling chassis, stretched it out some inches to equal the vanette's wheelbase and then put the bodyshell onto it.

It looks like a fun project but I can't see how he will achieve his idea "without lifting the vehicle too much". I've seen a few conversions involving 4x4 chassis and other vehicle shells and they all end up looking like monster trucks. There was a Mk3 Escort van round here a few years ago which was on a 4x4 chassis and the wheels were under the vehicle but it worked and was usable. Good luck with the project and enjoy doing it Sammy.
