nissan note rear bearing

anyone had a nissan note and done the rear bearing

got a nissan note here was changing the bearing as other was shot and wheel wobbled

taken apart and the bearing was really bad lost about 5/7 bearings inside of it

shim wont shift or move out of the rear hub even when trying to knock it out its looking more like its seized inside of the rear hub any suggestions on getting it out of the hub unit

I presume you are trying to get the race out of the hub, if so try running a line of weld around the inside, I've never had to resort to it, but it's been said several times on here that it will shrink the bearing enough as it cools to get it out.

I second the weld bead, don't even need to use gas, just pump heat into it and it will drop out. Just make sure when you turn it over that its not over your lap as they have a tendency to just fall out...
I do it all the time, bead of weld and they just fall out...

My mig is a 150A plant. I don't need to put it on full power, just bang a bead round and it should come out easy enough. Like i say no need to even turn the gas on as ur just wasting it anyways.

Either welding method is fine, use whatever will get in there best - sometimes a stick rod is more practical, sometimes not. Make sure you do the full circumference and it'll often drop out.

have you updated your adobe and also your java as these can affect you seeing the video same as your firewall could be blocking them

anyway all done now and with thanks the mig welder with no gas was used a couple of hits on a bar it slide out


the shim that came out was used to put the new one back in the hub

I've got the same when using Firefox, no matter what I try I cannot get it to install Adobe Flash Player, can see it fine with Chrome browser.

No it is not the fact that you put heat into it, just putting heat into it would make it tighter, it needs to be a decent heavy weld, it is the fact the run of weld shrinks, as it cools, that reduces the outside dia of the bearing, I dont even try pressing them until I have welded them to save damaging uprights which is so easy to do on most cars.

As a weld cools it contracts - this is what we refer to as distortion and can be a problem when you set something up square and it pulls over to the side you've welded. A bearing is using the same thing, by doing the weld in a ring as it contracts the diameter reduces and that's how it works.

Also another reason I weld them straight off it gives something a little softer to put the drift against, especially on hubs where there is an inside shoulder that the bearing is pressed up to and nowhere to drift against.
