Just wondered if any one had an idea ?
We have a Nissan forklift at work that the head gasket went on, slowley got worse and worse, so we replaced it about 3 months ago head skim, all water ways checked, waterpump checked, all done properley.
Seemed ok, until yesterday, engine started to speed up and it dumped all its water in the sump all of a sudden.
Just wondering if we should get shot of it and get another one, cant put the time to it again if its going to go that quick.

Hi Ian,

If it's the alloy 4 cylinder head (K25), the early one's are extremely prone to cracking around the valve spring area, have had very few pass a pressure test. Remove the rocker cover, clean off as much of the emulsified oil as you can, and look for cracks especially leading to and from the feet of the rocker posts, will probably look like lines running parallel along the cylinder head. This will dump water into the oil return, make no mistake! As far as I'm currently aware, the only sources for a new head are TVH and Nissan themselves. Although Nissan claim there never was a problem, seems strange they've changed the spec., and the newer ones are a lot more reliable, i.e we've gone from failing 90%+ to passing and re-working most of them. If it's the cast iron (D26), normally these can take the hammer.
