hey guys, figured someone here must be able to help me out!
I changed the steering rack on my 106 last weekend (bloody silly french
ideas) anyway, being a more modern type of car you'd think the french (or british probably lol) could have stuck a pair of bog standard modern universal fit grease nipples in either end of the rack so it could be greased easily. But did they? No. They stick these odd looking things which look a bit like a very small mig gun gas shrouds in there. basically straight for 1/2" tapering to a hole, no ball bearing to stop the grease coming back out, but I guess thats because it's not really under much pressure unless overfilled and the hole would be a release to stop hydraulic locking. Apparently this type of grease nipple is an old european style or something, that hasn't been used in years. Which of course makes finding a grease gun attachment for it neigh on impossible.
I managed to pack one end with grease the hard way (take the rubber boot off, spoon grease in, pack it down e.t.c.) but short of taking the rack apart I couldn't get in the other end at all as its sealed. But had to fit the rack or have no car. I like to do things properly so need to know where to get one of these old type grease guns or grease gun attachments from before I kill the new rack, thus I plea for help!
Any help most appreciated!
p.s. I'll try and get a pic of one from the old rack when I have the chance.
