I think you can own a TV for DVD's etc but you have to prove that you are not using it as one.
Last time the licence droid turned up here he said 'The percentage of people with out a TV is so small as not to exist' and wanted to come in and search the place. I told him to ****** off. Regretting that I did not think to ask him why he was speaking to me as I dont exist. Being called a liar by a jumped up (cant think of a word) does not help with public relations.

Last letter from then got sent back with my response to ''why do you not have a TV licence?' ''Because I am Bennitto Chunkolini Prince of Darkness and do not need a licence for something that I dont own''.
Not heard from Them for a while.


The licence does not any way near cover the costs of the BBC,, it is an anachronistic hangover from Imperialism, do the satellite stations get a cut? the commercial stations?

but why then do i still look at the TV page of the newspaper everyday?

It would be really good if you could find a way of watching ITV but not the BBC - no reason to pay the fee then! I'd only do it for the principle of it though. It does seem to be another government thing - another way of taxing the public etc.

Got a question though. Do all these presenters really deserve their huge salaries? I can see that they do bring in the audiences to the BBC but the amount they're paid is outrageous. Reducing their salaries would also reduce the cost of the license fee.

Re watching ITV, I have no desire to watch TV at all, I see it for three days at chrimstas with the inlaws and my Crumblies. It appalls me.
No, for me it has to be a good book or quality music, and cider, maybe a combo of all three, oh and Mrs Crazy Face and the mad child.
I player is great for him, he can keep in touch with that pillock Clarkson and his buddies and all the other media whores.

Just been quickly through the tv lic web site, not to have a lic is almost akin to guilty until proven innocent. They want you to declare you have no need for a lic before they stop sending you letters !!
i understand they work on the basis of everyone has tellys, but as we see on here not everyone does, myself included until I gained the other half !!

On the iplayer thing, its physical location of your endpoint they check, because they only license the content for the uk region, or it would cost more. Blame the leeches at the content providers not the beeb for that one.
You can however neatly sidestep the restriction by using either a uk based proxy, or a vpn which endpoints in the uk. Thus APPEARING to be in the uk to their servers. Works a treat for me. You can pick up normal uk live broadcast tv over most of europe off the astra satelite too. Further with a decent sized dish...

Chunko you can buy a monitor with composite inputs, no tuner, job done.
Or... another option is to put a capture card in your pc and plug the wii into that, then open the window on the pc to see the wii output. I used to use my xbox like this to save yet another monitor on my already overcrowded desk (but not for games, I used to have a cluster of them as cheap pc's for compiling software ).

my mate has one of those tv dvd combo things, he doesnt use it to watch tv only dvd's vhs's and a games console, he has no aerial fitted in his flat, the tv liscence people went round as he wasnt paying the liscence fee, he convinced them he doesnt/cant watch tv so they basically said yea thats fine, if you do get an aerial get back intouch with us.
