l am impressed with that, bet it wasent just drawn up on the back of fag packet,

at first l thought it was abroad due the labels on the side of the machine, but near the begining there is a load of graffiti on a wall and its in english

One of me mates is driver/ maintenance on a tamper. Think it was a Swiss built machine, had a bit of time at the manufacturers getting to grips with it all.

No wonder train fares are so dear, that set of machines must be in the millions!

I love the rail-mount excavator flying along with his bucket pushing the ballast back towards the rails. I bet he can cover a few miles a day!

Theres an access point onto the rails near our yard. They regularly use the side of the yard to park their equipment overnight - some weird and wonderfull kit they have - some of it i have absolutly no idea what it does!

millions and millions l would think, probally came with half a dozen engineers who stayed with it for the first year of its life, looks very complicated and very imppressive
l wonder how many of those trains they have, the guys who work it would probally have to follow it around the country working on the track, wonder if they have sleeper coaches on the end of the train

They are amazing pieces of kit but they are only as good as the bloke operating it and trust me we have some proper idiots in charge of those machines !

What they don't show in the video is the gangs of blokes going out after trying to find why half of the signals in the area don't work anymore

have seen alot of the rework work done on the west coast line work and its impressive the kit they have. but for every machine there it two banks man so that slows the job down abit

you're right that's not here, we have to wear full body orange hi vis and hard hats

We have the same rig in Australia, i think they call it the pony express here.

My company has 4 of these working around the Uk, There only good when there working right, There know as TRT (Track relaying Train), they work in conjunction with a High Output Ballast Cleaner, These can get to almost 1 mile long.

why is there a need to clean the ballast ? dose it it not do the same job wether its clean or dirty ?

The ballast needs to be cleaned due to the fact that there are small voltages that pass through the rails, ballast contaminated with oil and grease etc can put a short between the rails causing a track circuit failure
