Nice little job in yesterday

Hi all. Thought I'd show you some of the bits i was up to at work yesterday.

Customer came wanting a sword making with just a wooden handle to fit and a fag packet drawing.

He asked for a stainless block welded to the end for balance and he would do all the finishing and shaping etc. I just drew and laser cut the blank and cut and welded the block. Also made him up some brass pins to rivet through the handle. Pics explainthem selves really. Not really the best material for a knife bu 316 will be fine for decorative all polished up. Pics aren't in order but can't really help it on a phone. More jobs to come!

If you look at the pic where the handle is fitted it is on the butt If you see what I mean.

I'm really confused, the only thing I can see that resembles anything 'sword-like' is pic #2, where does that huge block in #3 and #4 fit into to build?

It's welded on the back end of it. The handle has a slot in it and slots over where there's a cut out to about half the width about 6 inches long to allow for the handle. You can't see it in any of the pics. The block is only about 2"×1.5?×1.5" the overall length is about 2 foot and the blade is about 4 inches deep.

Right, I get you now, as Matt said, it's on the back end of the tang, I thought that was the blade in the pics.

Yeah, it threw me off completely too. Just had visions of a massive block of metal at the tip end of it.
