Just seen this job advertised, East London, Looked interesting. Great rates but its nights

Its pretty easy too welding 1-6mm steel on railway carriages. it has to be one of the better paid welding jobs i've seen so far.

Permanent night shift Mon-Fri occasional Saturdays, please note there is no flexibility with this so do not apply if you cannot work permanent nights. 12 months contract, £18.38/hour Ltd Company Mon - Fri and £20.46/hour Ltd Company Sat-Sun, start 17th September.

Basic week plus overtime you could earn around £900+ a week.

Well some people are suited for night work, I gues if i'm honest i'd probably go for it if i lived closer, At the moment its about an hour and bit by rail for me, i wouldn't want to drive all that way (about 75 miles each way)

But the problem for me is i can't sleep during the day very well

That's a bloody good rate for an employee. I occasionally see vacancies around the liverpool, north Wales area for around £16-18 ph but that's for coded welders or for hardox experience!

I was constant night shift for 21 years, the first 5 years was the worst !!!
Took a long time to re-adjust when I went back to day work

Isn't that a limited company fixed term contract?, if so anyone taking that on will need to set up a company, employ an accountant etc, or maybe use an umbrella service, not just a case of turning up with your lunchbox.

It don't say nothing about that at all, many jobs in London have a minium contract period of 1 year, if they like you and your realiable then i guess they extend your contract. i may also mean that they simply need someone for just the 1 year. reasons being that they may not have that job to do the following year.

Noticed that also, Rates of pay are pretty shocking, and not even up to day-rate standards.

Iv done some railwork in my time, Ruin a good man, One night and this is no word of a lie, the environment impact office shut us down, because 2 snails were mating, when theres a huge fine for not having possession of track returned, sense of humor failure doesn't come close.

I know someone quite well who refurbishes platform markings overnight , white lines on platforms that kind of thing, he said a possession costs them £450 + just for the paperwork, if the weather beats them or for some other reason he cant work there is no refunds, and a court of inquiry because the works not finished, big money involved just to cover the bull he has to put up with.
