I thought lichen growth was a sign of good clean air
You answered your own WTF, sulphur from coal burning will suppress any plant growth, I know because I used to work next to a huge blast furnace when the slag notch was opened most of the humans let alone the plants found it difficult to breath.WTF has next door got to do with stuff growing on your car
We live close to Drax, Ferry Bridge and the one they just knocked down. Before desulphurisation of drax we never had an moss etc grow anywhere. Since then everything leftout side turns green in a matter of weeks.
That was 10yrs ago, within thelast 6yrs we installed a wood stove. I can truthfully say it hasnt increase growth.
Maybe you should just wash your car better and more frequently
