Hi all,
bit of a newbie to welding but have welded on and of for a few years entirely self taught (other than a few pointers) by "trial and many errors" method!! I have been welding ok but am looking to improve skill and tech level and be able to (confidently) offer clients various fabrication services which although not strictly "structural" need to be safe ie strong and neat to the eye.
Have done some stick but mainly MIG as other than a few welding tables and some heavy beams (which were stick) most of the stuff i have done is 1.5-5mm decorative or light load framing. I have been a contractor for around 25years and do most stuff but cabinetry, joinery and carpentry are my main line but electrics, plumbing, plaster, tile, ect,ect also daily. I have a major personal interests in engineering, electronics and tech in general and can successfully strip'n'fix then rebuild most stuff.
I have recently purchased an ESAB 200i and having tried it briefly on some 0.9 MS [which is reason for purchase] running 0.8 solid with Argoshield @75/ 25 am well impressed with the results from the unit and the temp adjustability for this light stuff, also performs brilliant on 5/6 mm MS and seems to have plenty of poke (not sure if thats a weldie's term)which is the upper end of what i need as 2/3mm is the bulk of what I do.
I am down in Christchurch/Bournemouth on the south coast and would like to do a short course or some informal lessons with an experienced MIG welder to boost my ability. so if anyone can suggest/help would appreciate the input. look forward to talking to you guys and sharing any knowledge, tips and experience i can offer in return.
