newbie to welding

hi everyone ,I am new to welding and ready to learn ,my mates have always done any job I needed doing but have finally decided to learn for myself ,used to weld in my early teens with a oxy set up with my dad but that's it. bought myself a migtronic mx180 and have also restored a old yanmar diesel stick welder ,hope I can learn off you guys as well as my friends at home....thanks ian

Welcome mig isnt like puting silicone round the bath, you push, not pull!

thanks miggy ,nice to know their are some good lads out there for advice ,still havn't done welding yet as sorting my garage out ,have ripped my old kitchen units out and replaced with metal benches ,filing cabinets and lockers ,just have to have a clearout and get rid of some gear ,have bought another mig welder so will have to decide which is best...lol

Two mig welders now, isnt that greedy, or have you joined the tool addicts club! Make some sparks, but before you start a fire extinguisher is a good addition.

always been a tool addict ,just can't help myself...lol , have a couple of small extinguishers but maybe a bigger one might be an idea as I just keep buying gear and projects ,my mrs is a soap fan so I escape to my garage and just mess about
