newbie sip 105 unstable arc

Hi, I'm new to the forum. I know that this has been covered before, but can't find a good guide to fixing the drive wheel from stepping up and down in speed. I'm looking for the easiest way to get the best results to sort the problem. People replying saying if you don't understand, then don't try these mods are not helpful, after all a forum is to ask for help and we all have to start somewhere.

I have exactly the same welder as you and had exactly the same problem! The mod I did was to fit a separate transformer for the motor. It works well sometimes, but it still has the irregular wirefeed speed problem. I think it must be due to the feeble drive motor and plastic moulded drive mechanism. I have been thinking of replacing the wirefeed mechanism for a better made one, like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MIG-WELDER-CO...659?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item19bf29c753 but by the time I've bought this, a eurotorch and gas valve, I might have well bought a new welder. I'm still wondering what to do!

I believe it is the power supply to the motor not the motor and feed itself which is the problem. So a fancy motor could even be worse as it would react faster to the supply fluctuation.

I reckon the cheapest solution is buying a better welder.
