Hi all,
Lurker and reader for a few months now but I really need to get on with buying something now.
I don't intend on welding cars but I guess option wouldn't go amiss? I'm more likely to be welding bits and bobs for boating stuff so probably thin stainless handrails, maybe alum (spool gun?) or general making of things like outdrive hoists as per the cad I've drawn up here.
I have never welded before, keen to learn but I don't know what I should go for. I will rarely use this will be my guess but I can't decide on what to buy price wise as it won't get much use. The rtech 180 or paton 160 seems to get good reviews or should I just save hundreds and get something like the uptime 160 and see where I end up. Buy a TIG seperate? Will I go straight to gas setup or gasless as probably mostly outdoors.
Thanks for any help as I've ended up down many rabbit holes with this.
