HI all,
I'm a total newbie at this welding malarkey and wanted to say Hi
I bought a very good condition second hand Clarke 130en about a year ago, which also came with gas bottle and regulator, plenty of wire, wobbly trolley and an arc welder and rods thrown in.
I haven't used any of it until recently as I had nothing to weld and as it was to be a hobby, time (read wife and kids) didn't allow me to get cracking.
I have recently had some garage time and laid some beads on 1.5mm sheet with varying success. I found it was much neater once I remembered to turn the gas on
Now I definitely have something to weld and really need to get learning as I have made a few shocking discoveries on my L400 Delica.....
I initially found this:
and thought oops, but figured it may be doable with some practice. Then I inspected another bubble in the wheel arch and found this:
She has been off the road for a year but I don't think this is a years worth of rust, I think it was bodged repeatedly and then undersealed to hide the issues for an MOT before I bought it.
This is the rear right hand chassis/suspension mounting point which sits on an also rusty frame as you can see from the hole in the centre of the picture. Having looked closely at the rear end she has more patches than grannies old quilt around the whole rear end
I have no experience in this field and I'm sure I will have a million and one daft questions (not least of which is how do I get this section off to make a template....) but thanks in advance for the excellent resources here.
I will post something in the projects if that's appropriate, progress will be very slow so don't hold your breath and Moderators please remove the pics if I am breaking any rules.
Thanks
Gerry
