Hi All,
Just found the forum and signed up.
Quick introduction, 50 years young, time served toolmaker been working in Aviation for last 25years. Only welding I ever done was in Tech college some 33 years ago with oxy-torch and rod lol and very recently some stick welding with cheapy eBay purchase. Started on MIG welding course few weeks back with local college and surprised I wasn't 'old man' amongst other students haha.
Loving it tbh, totally mind blowing to think of joining steel in different ways other than nuts, bolts, dowels and rivets. So much diversity you can create practically anything, please excuse my excitement!
Anyways, looking for my first welder and although it's most probably been asked here a thousand times before your help in recommending a decent MIG would be greatly appreciated. Budget is up to £250 max but if I don't need to spend anywhere near that happy days. To give you an idea the project I'm keen on first is converting an old gas bottle into an external reservoir for my compressor so won't be doing much heavy duty.
I'm close to Aberdare, S.Wales so if anyone cares to share some tips or would like to teach this oldie newbie some new tricks I'd love to hear from you. Thanks to all in advance.
