The first one was at 130 made a right mess of that, Then dropped it to 110. The very last one of the left was at 90.

It was a bit messy, i gave it a wipe down maybe it needed a wire brush put to it.

How quickly do you guys go through TIG gloves? Mine are a right mess already must learn no to pick things up they are hot :doh:

. With the thicker gloves i used for MIG it did not matter too much.

Yes I tend to use new Alu stock and never scrub it unless it's manky. If your stuff is manky and contaminated then yes you'll need to give it a lash over.

Had another go this morning. Gave is a bit of a clean up with a wire brush and changed balance to -10. Started off at 90 amps but could not keep up so dropped it to 75 amps.

The welds are a bit cleaner and there is some etching around the sides.

Looking good mate. It's always difficult once your metal becomes heat soaked. Some nice examples in amongst that lot.
As your pool becomes wider your going to need to travel faster so that everything stays under control. Some bigger bits of Alu will make learning much easier.

Thanks Richard, Will try and pick up some alu and rods next week. Going to have a look through my scrap bucket and stick some bits together later.

Had a bit of welding time this afternoon.

Started with some 4mm this did not go well.

I then started cutting some 3mm box trying to maximise welding time but limit wastage.

Tacked up.. The outside corner joints would tack without filler the fillet welds were not so easy.

Made a right mess of the first few fillet welds the smallest cup i had was size 6.

The two welds i ground off i hit the tungsten with the filler rod then patched up what was left.

Just received this, Already fixed up 3 tungstens that i mangled trying to cut them with various tools. Thank you @Hudmut .

I tried doing what i saw on the Eastman TIG welding video ..
I put the tungsten in a battery drill & ran it point facing upwards using the tool rest as a point of support , at full speed .....high on the front of the wheel on a dedicated cheapie grinder whilst the grindstone is running . It gives as good as if not better result compared to the tip on the left . Best of all is that the angle can be altered for experimentation as & when needed.

I don't have a bench grinder or cordless drill, up until now i've been using grinding bits in my bench drill with poor results.

You don't need a drill.
A cheap bench grinder is all you need.

Lidl have their wet 'n dry one on offer atm, you might prefer to wait for the dual-wheel 'normal' ones though?

By the looks of it they have the same kit just waiting until they get the bits i want, skiing stuff at the moment :mad:

I'm really happy with the hudmut sharpener going to keep an eye out for a second hand cordless dremel to go with it.

Also ordered a section of tig rods from weldequip, going to be making a mess of stainless and aluminium some time soon.

Seeing as i'm enjoying the TIG and should start work on a cooler next week think i also need a pedal.

The manual states FR 21 No. 94.0051.00 Its 14 pin.

I've seen this for £250

, nearly as much as the welder.
