hey, i'm looking to purchase a welder, i have a mask and every so not looking for a complete kit, but im looking to dink around the garage and possible weld a duck blind. Im looking for something that can weld steel and alum. Anything helps thanks!
The most you will get on 120V is about 130-140 amps. Will do 1/8". Will requirea dedicated 20A outlet. Anything bigger needs 220V.
MIG does steels easily, especially. Aluminum MIG requires a good machine, is tricky and requires practice. If you plan on doing a lot of aluminum, you will want TIG.
If you are doing mostly steels and more than 1/16" thick and arc welder is cheap. The better ones run off 220V.
Give a bit ore on what you want to do as far as metal sizes.
A lot depends on the budget. A good welder is not cheap. Used ones are an option if you can do a bit of fixing.
