Hi:
Thanks to everything I have read on this forum I purchased a MIG welder mostly to do sheet metal and exhaust work on cars. I have started off using flux wire lap welding 16 ga sheet. My welds look horrible mostly because I can't see where I am going after the arc is struck. I am using an auto darkening helmet and as soon as I give myself some strong overhead light the lens goes dark; so I have to resort to lighting from the side. From what I have read it is easier to see using gas. Could someone please confirm and explain why and also perhaps give some tips as to how one may be able to see better. Thank.
