Newbie and in need of some advice please

Hiya peeps,total novice here with respect to mig welding Just got a nice secondhand clarke mig welder 100E which can run gas or gasless
The seller had changed it to run on fluxed wire but i want to convert it back to gas operation but i havent a clue what parts i need

All i have is the wire,bottle of co2 and the welder if anyone could tell me what parts i need to buy from clarke(product codes even better lol) or a recommended supplier?

My eyesight isnt great with close up work and with a dark mask on i cant see ****** all lol,whats the safest shade of lens i can go without damaging my eyes? ps ill be using the welder very in frequent untill my skills improve lol
I like the look of these auto shading visors but out of my price range at the mo so the lightest shade lens is my only option at this moment in time

Can i say what a great forum and i look forward to learning new skills if you hear a bang near grimsby its me making a boo boo lol

You will need a regulator and fittings for the welder. PM weldequip here as hes has them.

9 is the lightest shade. I would go for an auto shade as it is adjustable shade and make it a lot easier to work.

You wil also need to swap the polarity back for gas MIG.

Without sounding dumb how do you reverse the polarity on the mig? on the machine itself or on the plug

On gas/gasless models, there will be two terminals inside the wire feed area that you can swap the wires on.

The 100E looks to be gas MIG only. The EN models are gas/gasless.

Seems the gas line was removed. You can see the silver fitting next to the power/liner connection.

PM weldequip, he should have the gas line and a reg. Do you have a refillable bottle of CO2 (pub type) or disposables. You will need to tell him what type you are using so he can provide the right reg.

A little tip when remaking the wires into the plug - try and leave the earth wire a bit longer so it is the last wire to disconnect if the cable is pulled out of the plug.

second that advice Robo. Also make sure when you strip off the outer that you don't damage the inner insulation and when you strip the insulation don't cut out any of the cores!
