Hello All
I've just spent the past couple of weeks looking for a small welder I can stick in the van for the odd job and maybe also to learn how to do things properly!
Ive stick welded before (many years ago). Wasn't too shabby because I was being taught by a pipe fitter/welder or some 20+yrs experience. I bought myself an Oxford Bantam at the time but it didnt see a lot of use do to the fact it was so damn heavy!
I've been looking around and wanted something to give me flexibility of stick and MIG. Ive never migged before..........initially I'm thinking that gasless was the thing, but everybody seems to say "no", so one of my criteria was any machine had to be gas capable.
Things have moved on a bit, so I looked and looked and read on the forums etc......and took a jump into IGBT inverters; specifically a Blackline Mig200. ... It appears to be the self same machine as the Jasic Pro Mig200 which sells for significantly more and Im pretty sure it can be found re-badged by other manufacturers too. I get that many people say "yes but its a cheap Chinese machine"; well look at the build quality and features; it comes with a Euro plug torch for a start which in my book sets it aside from the usual run of the mill far east stuff. It also has a decent gas connector on the rear and digital displays for A&V.
So what do you guys think?
...
Also I'm thinking of going up the HobbyWeld cylinder route?
