We got a Spectrum when I was a teen. Many of the games were rubbish tbh, though a few like Jet Set Willy were good. I loved Knightlore and even my late mum loved to play Scrabble and Mr Wimpy. I remember you could put Operation Wolf on to load - two tapes! - and have your tea whilst you waited. I still have it in the cupboard and a pile of games. Can't believe I paid £7 for some of those crappy games.
We then moved on to an Atari ST. I paid £250 for a monitor for it. Can't remember how much the dot matrix printer cost, though our first inkjet was also £250.
We got a Dreamcast when our son was little. What a cracking console. Many happy hours playing Powerstone. He had funny nicknames for all the characters.
My son is about 5'10" now and getting a Raspberry Pi for Christmas. £36 for a kit. How times, and prices, have changed.
