New Workbench

A few weeks ago I posted a thread about leveling castors, @Munkul advised me to steer clear of the 'all in one' jobs and I'm glad I did, sturdy, level and moveable, thanks for the advice.

Theres more to making a decent bench than meets the eye for a relative newcomer like me, theres a slight bow to the center which I can't do nowt about, I've learnt a lot but like the result. Cheers.

Now to fit the vice properly and some fixture holes...

(10mm Top, 5mm wall thickness box and rectangular section, conveyor leveling feet)

General Duty Electric Blue Castor

To be honest you could get probably look around and get some heavier duty castors but these worked out fine for me and you can end up looking forever for the perfect bits...

Also add in M16 self colour nuts for welding inside the leg base plates

They have the auto lock on round here when you go past the red paint line, so I painted red lines to my house and problem solved

I had some help squaring the frame and ensuring that stayed square during welding, but the rest is mine. It was an expensive bench, hence asking for help, can't remember off the top of my head but it was around £180 for the top.

I can understand the attraction of a bench that can be moved, but by far the best thing I ever did with mine was bolt it to the floor.

Nice welding table, but IMHO on a table of that size, the vice will get in the way to often. I'd attach the vice to a fixed bench which would be more stable.

It still can be in the future, but at the moment the workshops developing and I'd move it loads before it found the right place. I like the fact I can wheel it into the middle of the room and work on all sides though.

Not a bad idea, I might mount it to a dedicated stand
