That's massive! You'd get several boxes of rods in it but you'd probably find it's still not airtight.

Back to the drain pipe and peanut butter top idea. I wonder what they will say when i go round tesco trying to find a jar lid that fits that contains something edible in it.

Ideally, you want something that's just big enough for one pack of rods, you'll soon find you have more than one pack and you'll want to keep them separate.

My dad used to use a length of polypipe (40mm) i think for under sink drains and a couple of rubber corks for a demijon for brazing rods. It will hold enough for a job just keep the other's in a plastic bag in the box.

Going back to the points on quivers, if that wouldn't be considered changing topic , I've got a couple of ex-MOD things which I believe once contained mortars. Screw down air-tight lids and the perfect length for rods. Got them from the local scrappy who does MOD surplus gear as well.

Here's my storage:

Was cheap, cost about $12; still have about 4' 1.75" of pipe left. Each holds 5 lbs.

The 7018 rods havd desiccant bags in the bottom to keep them dry.
