Ok, so im new to welding but i do know the basics. I recently aquired a brand new Lincoln flux core welder and tried it for the first time yesterday. When i went to start welding, the wire would feed but no arc. I was using a clean piece of metal and it was grounded good. Then, without changing anything, i was able to get an intermittent arc. The wire would continue to come out, but would only arc about once every half a second or so. I figured it was probably the wire i was using, which was the wire that came with the welder, so i tried some other wire but it did the same thing. Pretty confused about the whole deal cause there isnt much adjustment on the welder itself. I also tried basically every wire speed setting and its still not working right. Any advice?

check the ground in the machine and the supply. sounds like an intermittent power supply, wire breaking down somewhere,

are you ending up with loads of mig wire on the steel you are trying to weld could be a wire feed issue .
do you have the earth clamp secureley connected to the steel you are trying to weld not through something else
