Hello All,
Trying to decide if I need a new "better" mig welder or just need to practice far more! I probably only use a welder a 10-20 times a year (but have a large project this year) When welding on new clean 2-3mm steel on the bench then everything is fine, but when working on 60 year old bodywork everything goes sideways.
Have an old Clarke 135 turbo mig replaced the liner, feed roller, swanneck but I seem to spend far more time trying to get it to run right than actually welding and it is doing my head in.
If going the new welder route budget is not huge ~£500-700 (as much as I would like a £1200 kemppi as recommended by a local shop)
Inverter would be nice as I have to move it every time it is used. Duty cycle not a issue, Will never weld thicker than 2-3mm (car repair/bodywork)
In short would a new welder make my life easier or am I better off taking a week of work an spend the time practicing?
Your thoughts most welcome.
