New welder, new gas bottle, feel like I'm just starting to learn (+images)!

Will be doing some patches on my landy soon, but that's all 2mm minimum will be certain to take photos though need to do a patch on the rear cross member for the mot, and also one on the bulkhead outrigger. Planning to replace the whole crossmember soon, and also the drivers foot well. Also want to fabricate an oil catcher rank, as my engine is getting on a bit and she's a heavy breather hehe.

Never needed any welding done on my laguna but maybe one day hehe

I tried my 0.8mm wire but its gone a bit rusty so i'll have to get some more :/

If the wire is not too rusty ,just peel the affected wire off the rest is still useable........sounds like the welder will see some service ....hope it all goes well

I tried peeling loads of layers off, but the rust seems to have penetrated will get a small 0.8 reel just to try it out. I think the wire feed is happier with small reels anyway. Makes a more consistent noise come from the motor! The wire feed coming from the torch seems pretty good regardless though to be honest

I always used 0.8mm with my xt 130...but if 0.6mm will weld thick enough without the extension lead ,and its feeding ok ,why change?......i still use co2 by the way and 0.8mm for everything ...

Just thought I'd get back with some pics of my progress with what I've learned from this thread. This top and bottom pic was basically me taking a plate of 3mm mild steel, and using wafer thin cutting discs to cut slits in to it, which I then welded back up. All were done on the Max/2 setting on my welder, and wire speed was about 8. Wire is 0.6mm, and I now have a flow meter on my Coogar-5 bottle. There are two short attempts at using the pull method which both ended up with holes being blown, but the rest are push
