Sorry Dean - You could always join up with the locost builders forum. Some welders who will be able to help on there if you get sick of people on here telling you that you can't.
For heavens sake - nobody ever admit to what they are thinking of doing in the future. No way am I going to post photos of the space shuttle I'm knocking up. Getting fed up with this change in atmosphere around here.
PS - forget acceleration and braking loads - they are tiny - biggest fatigue forces in a car shell tend to be where the shocks are mounted.
I've noticed that on other welding forums too and it puts me right off going there. Lots of I'm better than you too. Generally an unattractive atmosphere for hobby welders.
This forum was set up for people like me to learn and share ideas. I've learned a massive amount from this forum, and my welding is much better than before the forum. Had people told me that I was incapable of doing stuff I'd have gone off and done it anyway, just without the learning.
It would be a great shame if we started behaving the same way on here. I'm not suggesting we should botch everything - there's a reason why pros tend to weld to certain procedures. But the general attitude from these other forums is "you can't possibly do anything without being coded so forget it" doesn't seem terribly helpful.
