Sadly i don't trust the internet anymore so I was hoping someone knew more about it.

It's probably no fun, and best avoided.

I really wouldn't worry about it.

It has a mortality rate similar to (untreated) rabies and ebola, and you're pretty unlikely to be infected by it unless you're in very rural parts of Malaysia, India or the likes and are in close proximity to fruit bats. If you are then rabies is probably a much greater concern. Zero cases ever reported in the UK.

I realise these are stressful times but it's probably best to try and stay worried about things on our doorstep rather than those far, far away (shark attacks in Sydney, ravenous polar bears in the Arctic etc.)
