OK, a mate dropped off a Murex 160 with me last night.
I'd used it at his a good while ago & liked it better than my Oxford 180 (which is on flux core atm for welding outside & is welding beautifully - only the Chimp holding the torch let's it down).
Tinkered with it this morning & had a lash with it. Works on all 6 settings (though like my Oxford I'd say no1 setting is more ornament than useful).
Wire speed works well.
It has T1 & T2 potentiometers (Pulse features?).
T1 clicks and though quite free moving appears to work (welder seems to work better with it off).
T2 is kaput I think and just loosely goes around, so dunno if that should be replaced or just unplugged?
The wire sparks just as you touch metal without trigger depressed (I think @eddie49 mentioned before what that issue is & how to fix it?).
It's not even semi-synergic like my Oxford, so needs more faffing with & familiarity, but can lay a nice weld.
Tatty, but comes with a 4-metre torch (my Oxford has a 3-metre which is sometimes a bit short), a bit of 0.6 solid wire in it (I think maybe it works better on 0.8), and a gas Regulator (no bottle but I have my SGS 20L Rental usually on the Oxford).
Mine for £100. At that I figured it was worth considering as a spare or loaner, and to keep up at my folks place (as humping Transformer sets around might be doable but not ideal. I dare say the Torch & Reg are not far off the price asked?
Worth having?
