Last night i won an auction on Ebay for a 2009 Ford Transit. It has only had one owner, comes with FSH and only has 87k miles on it. I actually placed my bid thinking I would be outbid due to the condition and history of the vehicle, along with the 100% positive feedback from selling 200 plus items from the seller but to my luck I won!!
However, I have heard more horror stories than good from people who drive them. A few people claim their mechanics say to stay away and others have had issues them selves. it was through talking to a mechanic I know which won me over as he stated that any second hand van can have issues, but so long as the van has been looked after and continues to be looked after it will run for ever which is true as the sprinter I also have is a great bus even though it has 170k on it.
Can I ask if anyone on here has this model transit and what your experiences are with them as I was actually after a 2005/2006 model transit (the last of the old shape) before I came across the one I bought.
I service my vans every 10k and change oil every 5k due to the high mileage and intend to do the same with the transit but is there anything I need to look out for specifically with it that wouldn't be looked at during a service?
Thanks
