New tyres...

I had a full set of Geolandar's fitted to the Surf when I got it as the original tyres were bald/odd makes etc. I did some research and they had better wet weather performance than most AT tyres.

The ones I had fitted before are Geolandar AT G012. Discontinued now I think.
The new ones are Geolandar AT G015 and when comparing them on-line they seem to be very slightly more road biased but they still look a nice chunky tyre (a must on a 4x4)

They are very quiet on the motorway and feel well planted at high speed fully loaded.
Wet weather grip is pretty good, on the Surf I can drift the rear out of rounderbouts if I want, but put it in 4 wheel drive and it's absolutely planted.

I've done very little off roading but have pulled a few cars and vans out of the ditch down the lane without any trouble, I drove it up a 45° grass bank at Mallory Park like it wasn't even there once., No tyre slip at all.

They seem to last very well milage wise too.

I've been very happy with them

I went out this morning to check the tyres and noticed that the useless monkeys haven't fitted new valves
I didn't even think to check them, I shouldn't have to check them!!!
I did check the pressure though and guess what?
40psi FFS!
They're meant to be 29psi!
Way over inflated.
Dangerous in the wet I'd say.
I'm kin fuming!
Also look at the weighs on that wheel, the painted dots don't line up with the valve holes either.
I'm tempted to tell them to refit my old tyres and to get fxxxxx.

I wouldn't worry too much - it doesn't look like they cleaned up the rim where they stuck them, so they might not be staying on there for long
If there is a bunch of weights on the opposite side too or at 90 degrees, they have probably been chasing weights, in which case they all want stripping off and rebalancing.
On the other hand, the zinc weights do take up a lot more space than the old lead ones, which can often make it look worse than it is.

I remember on my volvo the wheel bolt had to be burned off (locking bolt)!....the guy said some moron had put it on with a windy gun. He asked me who fitted the tyres (yea you can guess what's coming!)...unfortunately they had!!!

Nothing more annoying than seeing them gun the new tyres on....actually there is....watching someone who fits tyres all day for a living not knowing where to align the tyre dots!

Only to be topped by the guy who puts the weights on the rim....when you've told him specifically that there are wheel trims to go on and they won't fit over the rim weights!!!!!

....I think I'm getting old....and grumpy

Looks like the only thing he got right was that the tyre was on the wheel and it's held air overnight!

Or when I'm helping drive dumpers, we did four tyres in three days on one job.

Find your local motor club - find out when they are having a car trial. Go watch. Consider the cars competing are on road tyres - no knobblies, no winter tyres, no M&S, no tyres with too big a gap between blocks.

And no LSD - some events will push you onto a set of rollers under one wheel to check. No ballast to aid grip either.

Re-consider what angle of dangle you can boast about in your 4x4 . . .

If there is a bunch of weights on the opposite side too or at 90 degrees, they have probably been chasing weights, in which case they all want stripping off and rebalancing.
On the other hand, the zinc weights do take up a lot more space than the old lead ones, which can often make it look worse than it is.

And they get a nice sharp steel knife or screw driver under the old weights really scratch the rims up nice and proper deep

Having just sold my Liege Classic Trials car I can assure you that ballast is used in many different ways . Some subtle others not so subtle. As for tyres and pressures they are strictly monitored . During the Lockdown when we were not allowed passengers I had a mate called Sandy Bag sit in the passenger area . At least he didn't argue and get p***d off when I blamed him for a failure .

Not talking classic trials - car trials, nee PCTs. Standard road car classes are no ballast - and at the clubs I compete with, that's enforced. I guess some cheat and hide it . . . but where is the satisfaction in that?

My Class 7 Dutton will balance quite nicely if lifted around the area of the middle of the seat - due to the amount of ballast - which does work against it in real wet conditions - in the summer, I beat the reigning British Champion . . . in the wet a few months later, in the same field . . . I got beaten by a Liege . I don't think that's happened in the last 20 yrs . . .

Looking forward to the Yorkshire Classic in just over a month
